Prism alternatives 2026
Lab data analysis software and GraphPad Prism alternatives in 2026
Thirteen tools that biologists use for statistics, curve fitting, plate data, flow cytometry and pipelines, grouped by the job they do best, with published prices and free options.
Analysis plus LIMS
When does a LIMS help with lab data analysis?
A standalone analysis tool may be enough for a single dataset. Across repeated assays, the harder job is keeping results linked to sample IDs, plate layouts and conditions. A LIMS can preserve those links, provided the import and analysis use them consistently.
- Less manual copying.Connected analysis can read measurements from sample records instead of a separate export.
- Results stay traceable. An IC50 links back to the compound, the plate and the source sample.
- The same analysis reruns on the next plate. With structured inputs, a saved analysis runs on new data without reformatting.

The list
Which Prism alternatives should you consider?
Cypher AI
Our productCypher AI is an ELN, LIMS and analysis platform whose AI agent writes and runs analyses in Python on your lab data.
- Best for
- Labs that run the same analysis on every plate or run, and want it tied to the samples and experiments it came from. Measurements sit on the sample in each well in the LIMS, so the analysis reads them without an export. Ask it to fit a 4-parameter logistic and flag outlier wells, and you get the IC50s, the plot and the code.
- AI and automation
- The agent writes the Python, runs it in a secure sandbox and checks its write-up against the numbers the code produced. Save the analysis as a widget, and it reruns on a schedule, when a file arrives, or after a pipeline run. Nextflow and nf-core pipelines run in the same place. It runs on current Claude and GPT models (Claude Opus 5.5 was added in September 2026).
- Pricing
- The free plan includes the ELN and 15 AI messages a month. Pro is $50 per user a month, with unlimited AI messages and the LIMS.
- Look elsewhere if
- you prefer clicking through statistics dialogs yourself, or you need a validated system for GxP analysis.
Working with the teamWork directly with the people building Cypher AI as you set up your lab's workflows. The team ships weekly releases, and every new account can book a free onboarding call.
BioRender Graphing
BioRender Graphing is a cloud data analysis and graphing tool inside BioRender, covering t tests, ANOVA, dose-response and survival, with all statistics computed in R.
- Best for
- Bench biologists who already make figures in BioRender and want Prism-style stats and graphs in the browser. BioRender markets it as a GraphPad Prism alternative.
- AI and automation
- Test suggestions come from rule-based statistical checks, not a language model. BioRender's AI agent is for figures.
- Pricing
- The Graphing add-on is $15 per seat a month for academics or $49 for industry, billed annually, on top of a paid BioRender plan. The free tier includes one Graphing file.
- Look elsewhere if
- you need multivariable models or want your data kept on your own machines.
FlowJo
FlowJo is desktop flow cytometry software for gating, compensation, population statistics and figures, and it reads FCS files from any cytometer. Waters now owns it, after combining with BD Biosciences in February 2026.
- Best for
- Immunology and cell biology labs analyzing conventional and spectral flow data. Many institutions already license it.
- AI and automation
- Version 11.2 includes computational methods such as FlowSOM clustering and UMAP dimensionality reduction. These are distinct from a conversational AI assistant.
- Pricing

- Look elsewhere if
- your data isn't flow cytometry, or you need a custom analysis that is easier to maintain in R or Python.
Gen5 and SoftMax Pro
Gen5 from Agilent BioTek and SoftMax Pro from Molecular Devices are the programs that run each company's plate readers. Both analyze the data on the spot, with curve fits, EC50 and IC50 values and reports.
- Best for
- Labs that want results calculated on the reader's own PC, including GLP and GMP labs that need plate-level audit trails.
- AI and automation
- No conversational AI assistant identified in the sources reviewed.
- Pricing
- SoftMax Pro 7 Standard is $2,418 a year for one license. Gen5 is quoted, usually with the reader, with no recurring fees.
- Look elsewhere if
- you need analysis across many plates, assays or instruments over time.
Genedata Screener and Spotfire
Genedata Screener is an enterprise assay analysis platform for high-volume plate data. Spotfire is a visual analytics platform for dashboards over large datasets, sold in life sciences with Revvity Signals.

- AI and automation
- Genedata Screener uses an AI classifier to pick the best-fit model for SPR and BLI assays. Spotfire Copilot is a free extension that customers host themselves, outside Spotfire's supported product.
- Pricing
- Quote only for both. Spotfire offers a free trial.
- Look elsewhere if
- you're a startup or academic lab running a few plate assays a week.
JASP and jamovi
JASP and jamovi are free, open-source point-and-click statistics programs. JASP runs classical and Bayesian tests side by side, and jamovi shows the R code under each analysis.

FAQ
Questions about Prism alternatives
What is the best free alternative to GraphPad Prism?
JASP and jamovi are free, open-source and point-and-click, and they cover t tests, ANOVA and regression. For curve fitting in code, R and Python are free. BioRender Graphing and Cypher AI have free tiers too.
Which software is most similar to GraphPad Prism?
BioRender Graphing, SigmaPlot and OriginPro are the closest in feel, with menu-driven statistics, curve fitting and publication graphs. OriginPro has a Life Science mode built for scientists moving from Prism.
How do I fit a dose-response curve and get an IC50 without Prism?
SigmaPlot, OriginPro and JMP fit 4-parameter logistic curves from menus. In R or Python you can fit the same model in a few lines of code. In Cypher AI, you ask the agent to fit the curve, and it returns the IC50s, the plot and the code it ran.
What software do I need to analyze plate reader data?
Your reader's own software, Gen5 or SoftMax Pro, handles fits on each plate. To compare plates over time or across instruments, export to Prism, R or Python. A platform such as Cypher AI also works, since it stores each measurement on the sample in its well.
Will my results match what Prism gave me?
Matching results requires matching the data preparation, model, constraints, weighting and statistical settings. Optimization algorithms, missing-value handling and outlier rules can also differ. Compare known datasets and inspect the fits before replacing an established analysis.
First steps
How do you try Cypher AI for analysis?
- Create a free account.Your free plan includes the ELN and 15 AI messages a month.
- Upload a plate file.Ask the agent for the analysis you run most, such as a 4-parameter dose-response fit.
- Save it as a widget. The team reruns it on the next plate. Turn on Pro for unlimited AI messages and the LIMS.
For larger R&D teams, Enterprise includes a deployment in your own cloud account and an engineer who helps set up workflows and data integrations.
